All Things Shelby Show was Good Fun for

San Diego Area Shelby Fans

This past May 2022, the San Diego region of the Shelby American Automobile Club put on its 6th annual All Things Carroll Shelby car show. A great day to be sure for checking out both vintage and late-model Shelby Mustangs and other Ford models, JBA Speed Shop was also in attendance with a few cool cars of its own along with the shop's display tent.

Taking place in the northern San Diego suburb of Rancho Bernardo, the accompanying photo gallery shows many of the cars in attendance at this enjoyable and laid-back local event.

Some of our favorites included Don Johnson's '66 GT350 that he brought down from the neighboring Orange County suburb of Garden Grove and Jose Aguliar's retina-burning Grabber Lime 2020 Shelby GT500.

Besides the Mustang-based Shelbys, there were also a good helping of Cobra roadsters on hand including replica cars from such outfits as Factory Five, Superformance and Backdraft. Mostly 427-bodied cars rather than 289-style slab side Cobras, one of the highlights gracing the JBA Speed Shop display was Tom Hufford's real and original 427 car that he has owned for the better part of 50 years.

Nearby Tom's car was also J Bittle's vintage Trans Am racer '68 Mustang coupe. J fired up the Tunnel Port-equipped buzz saw small-block numerous times. And every time, a crowd formed around the car to listen to its lumpy idle and full-tilt road-racer revs. It was a symphony of mechanical music that we can certainly all appreciate.

In addition, San Diego SAAC also had show judging for the cars with an awards ceremony and very nice trophies to put just the right wrap on the day. All in all, it was a great event and everyone is surely looking forward to next year. --Miles Cook
