It’s gearhead heaven in San Diego each year during Fleet Week when the Coronado Speed Festival rolls around. Held September 22 and 23, the 15th annual speed fest featured vintage racing with around 250 cars competing in nine race groups on a 1.7-mile course on the runways of North Island Naval Air Station, Coronado. It benefited the Morale, Welfare and Recreation fund and included a Vendor Village, new vehicle test drives, drifting exhibition, military display, jet flyovers, Navy Leap Frog demonstration, car show, car corral and lots of racing! JBA Speed Shop hosted a booth in the Vendor Village and the pit area for the #29 1968 Mustang historic Trans Am race car driven by J. Bittle. Hospitality in our pit area included hot dogs, chips and cold drinks each day for a couple hundred of our closest friends! Our race car ran strong, we downed some dogs, connected with lots of old friends and met some new ones as well. All in all, it was a great weekend. Big thanks to all the volunteers and everyone else that made it happen! See the pictures for more of the story.
