For nostalgia drag racing, it doesn’t get much better than the March Meet at Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield, CA. The fabled March Meet, now in its 54th year, was expanded to four days and ran Mar. 1-4. Legendary father and son drag racers Larry Dixon Sr. and Larry Dixon Jr. were the Grand Marshals of the iconic race. More than450 racers registered in classes such as Nostalgia Top Fuel, Nostalgia Funny Car, A/Fuel, Jr. Fuel, 7.0 Pro, Nostalgia Eliminator-I, Nostalgia Eliminator-II, Nostalgia Eliminator -III, A/Gas, B/Gas, C/Gas, D/Gas and Hot Rod. In addition to great drag racing, the event featured a car show, swap meet, vendor row and plenty of food and drink.

JBA cruised up to Bakersfield for Saturday’s festivities and the weather was perfect. It was fun watching San Diego’s very own Nostalgia Top Fuel team Neal & White lay down great numbers. On Sunday, the team made it all the way to the finals and almost took the championship in an extremely close race. Walking through the extensive pit area, we found row after row of bitchin’ cars. If you like drag racing even a little bit, the March Meet at historic Famoso Raceway is a must-add to your bucket list. Check out the pictures for more of the story!
