Description: It’s time again! 19-years of competing at The Race at the Base! That is US Naval Air Station North Island! Join Team JBA and 300-plus race teams, September 17th and 18th, for the Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival 2016.
Get ready for a high-octane weekend of historic road racing, hangin’ with J. Bittle and the JBA crew as we tear up the temporary 130 MPH race course. A twisty, 1.7-mile track built annually for vintage racing on the runways and taxiways of the Naval Air Station. The course provides a unique challenge for competitors, as well as exciting racing for the spectators.

Bring your street machine and get a pass for up close parking in the Car Club Corral or enter the JBA sponsored Car Show (Sat. or Sun.) for admiring incredible rides of all makes and kind. The races feature rolling starts. Imagine the smell and sound of twenty-five 500-plus horsepower vintage SVRA machines thundering at the green flag into turn one! Giant grandstands to watch Ferrari’s and Jag’s all the way to post-war nostalgia and late-model IMSA cars. Grand Marshall Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, along with military exhibits and demonstrations for car enthusiasts of all ages make for a great weekend.

In the JBA pits, get an in-depth look at an era that changed the face of V8 sedan /production car racing. See all the big domestic and small bore machines from Europe and Asia running fast laps like JBA’s SCCA production V8 sedan. See real historic NASCAR stock cars and fleet sports cars also. Hear 108 dB’s as J. Bittle runs the historic Hinchliff 1968 Tunnel Port Mustang at 8000 RPM, and Mike Evans in his 1968 Jerry Titus Tribute as he bangs the gears in his Shelby Team Mustang as they battle it out against period correct Mopars, Chevrolets and Fords.
