What is happening this weekend for fun? Poker Runs – three of them! All three are a variety of styles and timing for your enjoyment.
Definition: A poker run is an organized event where participants, in this case driving a Mustang or other means of transportation, must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run.
Mustangs heading out to see the sights of San Diego. This should a be fun day of driving and rendezvous from spot to spot. A later departure from JBA after registering for this stirring city road trip, we hit our Poker stops with a live hand-off at some of the most beautiful locations in San Diego. We will send Mustangs out at 3 minute intervals beginning at 10AM. Be pre-registered or sign-up after you arrive day-of the event, beginning at 9AM at JBA Speed. We will have awards based on poker hands and how you tackle the driving. Some awards will require we note your departure mileage and time so it can be compared for completion purposes to see who went the shortest route, the longest route both time and miles! GPS, Google Maps, Thomas Bros. use what ever tool you want. We will see who can best navigate their way to which stops to secure their cards for the best Coronado Poker Run Award.
With your Ford Festival Registration you may also choose to enter any secondary event for: an entry fee of $10.00 per car for a Saturday Dash Plaque and chance for Trophy/Prize.
Ford Festival Sonic Drive-In Poker-Lunch Run
Departing at 1:00 p.m or on your own, as you wish we provide the locations where the poker cards are handed out and you can visit these fine drive up spots complete with roller skate delivery of milk shakes, soda fountain drinks galore or a full moving lunch. We will track your stop times and how many miles you travel, keep your receipts so we can add up the business we share with Sonic for our great Cruise Award. Also next to the local Kearny Villa Sonic, down the street from JBA, check out your favorite Saturday afternoon College football game at The Elbow Room – a hospitable sports bar and eatery. So if football is more your afternoon style, the folks at ER have a large parking lot and we told them to watch for Mustangs from 1- 3PM to visit and hang out since they share a parking lot with the local Sonic next door!
